The Hague being promoted as ‘college town’

Published: 29 June 2012 Modified: 03 August 2012

All of the various institutes of higher education in The Hague, the ACKU Cultuurburo, The Hague Student Union, ROC Mondriaan and the municipality have signed a covenant to work together to position the city as an attractive college town.

The various partners will join forces in terms of marketing and promotional activities within the platform ‘Den Haag Studentenstad’. The platform was presented at the SuperMarkt music club on 26 July. Partners in the platform have pledged to undertake activities to encourage students to study in The Hague.

The participating partners will use identical marketing materials and work together to develop various products such as a website, an application for mobile phones and an introductory guide to The Hague for international students.

There are approximately 35,000 students in The Hague, including 6,000 international students. This group is expected to continue to grow in the future.

The Hague has a number of high-quality programmes and educational institutes. It is also an international city with top companies and international organisations, such as Shell, Aegon, the International Court of Justice, various international tribunals, the Nederlands Dans Theater and the Residentie Orkest. The Hague is also a highly liveable city with 11 kilometres of beach, many parks and a lively music scene.
