The garden looks great again but where do I put all those branches and leaves? During the 'Takkenroute' from 5 to 9 March and 12 to 16 March 2012, large garden waste such as tree branches and trunks will be collected by the municipality for free. You can make an appointment by phoning the Grofvuiltelefoon.
Separately collected garden waste will be used to make compost and is better for the environment.
Residents of The Hague who would like their large garden waste collected by the municipality can phone the Grofvuiltelefoon at tel. 070 – 366 08 08. Oversized household waste (grofvuil), such as furniture and appliances, will not be collected at the same time as the garden waste. For these items, you need to make a separate appointment. This way different types of waste can be kept apart and treated separately.
Naturally there are certain rules to be followed for the free collection of large garden waste.
Residents of The Hague can also bring their large garden waste themselves to one of the garbage and recycling stations (afvalbrengstations). If you have more than 1 m3, you are asked to go to Plutostraat 1 (Binckhorst). For smaller amounts of large garden waste, residents can go to Vissershavenstraat 2 (Scheveningen) and De Werf 13 (Zichtenburg). The garbage and recycling stations are open Monday to Saturday from 8.30 to 17.00 hrs.
Please note: To dispose of waste at one of the municipal garbage and recycling stations, you must be able to show your Afvalpas.
