Faster permits for small renovations

Published: 20 June 2012 Modified: 30 August 2012

Would you like to install a dormer window, replace window frames, build a sun lounge or make other small construction works and repairs on your home? You can now get a small building permit within 3 days.

There is now a simpler application procedure for building permits for residential construction projects (now called the omgevingsvergunning). In most cases you will be granted your permit within 3 working days. The procedure used to take 7 to 8 weeks.

Permit application

You can apply for a small building permit through www.omgevingsloket.nl.

If you want to apply for a permit, you will need to provide a number of documents:

  • A valid ID
  • An application form
  • Scale drawings (floor plans, facades, cross-sections, details)
  • Photos of adjacent buildings or apartments and a list of the construction materials you will use.

Shorter time

Permits can be granted much faster because the digital application procedure has been shortened. A special team will handle these specific applications and make the procedure as fast as possible. For example, the team now provides advice through the telephone instead of in written communication. The number of documents required is also being kept to a minimum. Moe information can be found on the Dutch-language municipal website.
