Old orchard open in Uithof
Published: 12 July 2012 Modified: 30 August 2012
The Municipality of The Hague is allowing visitors to come and pick their own fruit from its orchard in Escamp during harvest time.
The old orchard in the Uithof still produces all kinds of fruit each year, including pears, apples, cherries and plums. Fruit may be picked only under the watchful eyes of a surveillance team so that that the trees are not damaged during picking.
The municipality hopes that the surveillance team will expand the lifetime of the fruit trees. These experienced volunteers will also give guided tours to schoolchildren and other interested parties.
Opening hours
During harvest time from 18 July to 15 September 2012 the orchard is open on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from 12.00 to 16.00 hrs.
For more information and to visit the orchard outside of the regular opening hours, you can phone Stichting Boog at tel. (070) 312 12 34. The orchard is always open to the public when it’s not harvest time. It's located at the end of the Uithofslaan behind the maze.
